What is the Evening of Blue and White Royalty?
The Evening of Blue and White Royalty is really a season long event. Throughout the semester the court participates in several functions with the organizations, such as parties, road trips, movies, service projects, etc. The season culminates in a ball where the participants are presented to the rest of the campus.
Why should I be in the ball?
There are many benefits of being a participant in the ball. You get to know the men and women of Phi Beta Sigma and Zeta Phi Beta. We get to be good friends. We are there for you when you need us, in situations not necessarily concerning the ball. The ball is for a good cause. A portion of the money raised goes to charity chosen by the court. You get into either Zeta or Sigma functions free for the rest of YOUR LIFE!
What are the requirements of participants?
Unlike some other organizations, the court largely decides what goes on in the ball. The program on the evening of the ball is decided upon by the court and approved by the ball coordinator and the other members of Zeta Phi Beta and Phi Beta Sigma. To be a successful participant in the ball, you must sell ads, attend the scheduled activities (don't worry they are all fun) and practices, and do a pre-ball interview. The final requirement is that you participate in all sections of the actual ball itself.
How is the winner determined?
The majority of the points are awarded the night of the ball. A smaller portion are earned over the season. You will be scored on attendance, attitude, and ad sales. There is a separate award given for the people's choice.
When is the ball?
The ball will be held the first weekend in December.
I don't know if I have time?
The ball does not require too much of your time. There are about three activities a month and they are all fun. The week before the ball there are more practices, but we work with your schedule. Also, all the pressure is not on you. Each participant is assigned a special who helps them out. The special helps you with any questions you may have, and they can help with some of the tasks associated with the ball.
How can I be a court member?
LOOK OUT FOR A SIGMA OR ZETA TO GIVE YOU AN INFORMATION PACKET. In the beginning of the year, we will invite you to our information about the ball. Come to the informational, and, if you feel that this pageant is for you, and then let a Blue and White member know immediately, as we only have space for 10 members.
Why the Evening of Blue and White Royalty?
This pageant is very different from other pageants on campus. We let the court members choose how the actual pageant is set up. Also, this pageant is very different in another way; we are the only pageant that has men AND women court members. That’s right! We allow 5 men and 5 women to do our pageant, separating us from the 6 other pageants here at Truman.
